Kurosawa Restored
Feb. 6–12, 2026
On presenting Akira Kurosawa’s Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1990, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg called him “our greatest living filmmaker” and “one of the few true visionaries ever to work in our medium.” Today, nearly 30 years after his passing, Kurosawa remains an omnipresent force in the history of cinema, with his influence as visible as ever.
Following the popular first part of our series Kurosawa: Restored, which we presented at the Burns in October, we invite you to go even deeper into Kurosawa’s body of work with the second part of our series, taking place in February.
Featuring a different selection of five unforgettable films directed by Akira Kurosawa (each, in this case, a transportive and vividly realized period piece), we are excited to present these newly restored masterpieces on the big screen, where they belong.
