Focus on Nature 2017

Oct. 5–30, 2017

This year’s Focus on Nature series boasts stunning and highly original films about the beauty, power, and mystery of nature, and how we affect and protect our world. Join us each week in October for screenings and discussions with special guests, including two wonderful author events and Q&As with inspiring filmmakers. Among this year’s selections, the gripping narrative Walking Out and the extraordinary docudramas Seasons and Amazon Adventure (in 3D!) all feature awe-inspiring footage of animals in their unspoiled habitats, captured with the most innovative technology available today. And two new groundbreaking documentaries—Before the Flood and Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman—offer a variety of proactive solutions to our most pressing environmental challenges. Plus an exhibition of extraordinary photographs from Paul Nicklen, the celebrated assignment photographer for National Geographic, is on view in our Jane Peck Gallery throughout the series.

Programmed by Karen Sloe Goodman

This series is presented in partnership with Scenic Hudson and Groundwork Hudson Valley and made possible through generous support from the Hoch family and the van Hengel Family Fund.
