Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman

Q&A filmmakers John Hoffman and Susan Froemke, producer/author Miriam Horn, and Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan

“A thoughtful portrait of conservation efforts in the American heartland… and the people in it, backed by Tom Brokaw’s steady narration, compellingly demonstrates how individual efforts to protect our land and water make a difference.” (Outside Magazine)

Out on America’s vast working landscapes—the ranches of the Mountain West, the farmlands of the Great Plains, the waterways of the Mississippi Delta—a huge, largely hidden, and entirely unexpected movement is being born. Tens of thousands of heartland conservationists are leading some of the most consequential work in the nation to restore America’s forests, grasslands, wildlife, soil, and fisheries: the vast, rich bounty that shaped our national character and sustains our way of life. This gorgeous film is a hopeful documentary that puts politics aside to challenge the conventional view of responsible environmental practices.

Author Miriam Horn will sign copies of her book Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman: Conservation Heroes of the American Heartland after the screening.
