A genuine visionary responsible for some of the most unforgettable images every put to film, the influence that master cinematographer Frederick Elmes has had on the canon of independent cinema cannot be overstated. In celebration of Elmes’ work on longtime collaborator Jim Jarmusch’s new film Father Mother Sister Brother (opening on January 9, preview screening with Frederick Elmes Q&A on January 8), the Jacob Burns Film Center is pleased to highlight four classic films shot by Frederick Elmes and directed by such luminaries as Jim Jarmusch (Night on Earth—presented on 35mm), Ang Lee (The Ice Storm—presented on 35mm), Charlie Kaufman (Synecdoche, New York—presented on 35mm), and David Lynch (Eraserhead).
