All Dunne: A Griffin Dunne Retrospective
Oct. 29–Nov. 17, 2025
A chameleonic character actor with leading man looks, a writer-director who’s adept at comedy, drama, fantasy and reality–often all within the same project–Griffin Dunne has forged a career unlike any other in American cinema. Invariably, it means something when Dunne is attached to a project. It means that something more than your standard fare is at hand. Something sharper, something smarter, something that makes you look twice, something that lingers. He stands out within ensembles such as in Chilly Scenes of Winter and Johnny Dangerously, plays the straight man (with a twist) in After Hours, Who’s That Girl, and An American Werewolf in London, and has quietly put together an eclectic directing filmography that includes the beloved wry romance Practical Magic, the unsparing media satire Lisa Picard is Famous, and an intimate home movie about his world-famous aunt, Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold. We’re excited to present this selection of Griffin Dunne’s work as both actor and director, and welcome him to the Burns for four special appearances.
