High School Fellowships

Applications are now open.

 

The Jacob Burns Film Center is pleased to offer two new intensive fellowships for 10th and 11th grade high school students in spring 2025 as part of our Director’s Cut High School Fellowship program: Director’s Cut: Documentary Filmmaking, in collaboration with NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Imagine Entertainment, and Director’s Cut: Narrative Filmmaking, in collaboration with NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Students may apply to both fellowships, but may only attend one.

Director's Cut: Documentary Filmmaking

APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING 2025 ARE NOW OPEN.


High School Fellowship | One Day/Week | March 22–June 14, 2025
Grades: 10th and 11th

In Director’s Cut: Documentary Filmmaking, students will learn about the process and business of making documentaries through expert guidance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Imagine Entertainment and the collaborative creation of a short interest-driven documentary film.

Director's Cut: Narrative Filmmaking

APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING 2025 ARE NOW OPEN.


High School Fellowship | One Day/Week | March 23–June 8, 2025
Grades: 10th and 11th

In Director’s Cut: Narrative Filmmaking, students will take a deep dive into the craft of filmmaking through the creation of a short narrative film. Students will collaborate as part of a crew to master the essential skills of crafting a visual narrative. Tailored guidance will be provided, with sessions featuring live demonstrations, hands-on test shoots, and film screenings.
