JBFC joins Inaugural Art House Cinema Week (March 20-26)

The lights dim. Conversations fade. A room full of strangers turns its attention to the same glowing screen. For a little while, everyone laughs, gasps, and reflects together. It’s a simple experience, but a powerful one, and it’s exactly what Art House New York Cinema Week is celebrating.

Taking place March 20–26, 2026, the inaugural edition brings together more than 30 independent theaters across the region to celebrate the spaces where audiences gather to discover films and experience stories together. Organized by Art House New York (AHNY) in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, the week shines a spotlight on the enduring role art house cinemas play as cultural gathering places.

The Jacob Burns Film Center is proud to take part as one of the only participating theaters outside New York City. The Burns represents the vibrant community of film lovers here in the suburbs, where moviegoing is just as much about connection as it is about what’s on the screen.

During Cinema Week, the Burns will celebrate with special offers and programming, including 15% off all new memberships throughout the week and half-priced wine and beer at Take 3 Wine Bar & Café from 5:00–6:30 pm, Thursday (Mar. 19) – Sunday (March 22), with happy hour extended through the weekend.
