In Memory of Ginny Gold, Beloved JBFC Board Member and Champion

It is with deep sadness that the Jacob Burns Film Center shares the passing of our dear friend, founding supporter, and Board member, Virginia “Ginny” Gold.

A visionary leader and passionate advocate for the arts, Ginny believed deeply in the power of film to bring people together, spark conversation, and build community and connection. Her philanthropic leadership was key to the creation of our Take 3 Wine Bar and Café, which opened in April 2024 and has quickly become a vibrant gathering place for film lovers.

In September 2025, Ginny was honored with the David Swope Leadership Award in recognition of her profound and lasting impact on the JBFC. She brought her formidable intellect, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to everything she touched, and her influence will be felt at the JBFC for generations to come. You can watch Ginny’s tribute video here.

Though petite in stature, Ginny was a force of nature, captivating all fortunate enough to orbit her universe. She was smart, spunky, caring, and endlessly charming; a true original. Her quick wit, warmth, and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Ginny’s devotion to the JBFC was shared with her beloved husband, Martin Gold, who predeceased her in 2017. Marty was a valued member of the JBFC Board of Directors and served with distinction as Treasurer. Ginny and Marty joined the JBFC family from the very beginning and remained steadfast champions of our mission, giving generously of their time, leadership, and support. Their partnership and shared love for the Burns helped lay the foundation for so much of what the JBFC is today.

Beyond the JBFC, Ginny devoted her life to strengthening cultural institutions across Westchester and New York City. She served on the boards of the Katonah Museum of Art, ArtsWestchester, and the Westchester Community College Foundation, and held leadership and advisory roles with Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, the New York City Ballet, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Our hearts are with the Gold family and all who loved Ginny.
