A Look Back at JBFC Summer Camp 2025

What a summer it’s been at JBFC Camp! Between our Animation Camps and Filmmaking Camps, young filmmakers didn’t just watch movies — they learned how to make them.

In Filmmaking Camp, students worked together to brainstorm story ideas, write scripts, act in front of the camera, and take turns directing behind it. They experimented with camera angles, sound, editing, and design, gaining a deeper appreciation for how films come together.

In Animation Camp, students brought their imaginations to life by using paper cutouts and clay to create original characters, learning frame by frame how movement, expression, and storytelling can come alive on screen. Across both camps, they discovered the importance of collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving as they built their projects from the ground up.

Each camp culminated in a screening in our largest Theater, where students proudly premiered their films before an audience of family and friends. Campers not only shared their finished projects but also took the stage for a Q&A, answering questions about their experiences and the filmmaking process. The cheers and applause from the audience made it a summer to remember.

Here’s a look back at the numbers that tell the story of this season:

  • 83 campers joined us this summer, each bringing their imagination and ideas to the big screen.

  • They were guided by 4 talented instructors and supported by 7 incredible counselors, who encouraged every step of the creative journey.

  • Together, campers produced 26 original films and projects, showcasing stories that were funny, heartfelt, and deeply inventive.

  • They also designed 16 film posters, learning the art of visual storytelling from concept to final design.

  • We hosted 3 screenings and Q&As, where campers proudly shared their work with audiences.

  • And of course, we celebrated with 3 receptions that brought families, friends, and our JBFC community together.

  • In total, over 300 guests attended the screenings and Q&As, cheering on the next generation of storytellers.

From day one to the final curtain call, these camps were all about exploration, collaboration, and creativity. Whether it was directing behind the camera, acting in front of it, or designing posters to promote their films, our campers truly experienced the magic of cinema.

We’re so proud of everything they accomplished this summer and can’t wait to see what these young filmmakers create next.
