Poster for THE MUPPET MOVIE

The Muppet Movie

Puppeteering pioneer Jim Henson made his feature film debut by taking his famous characters from The Muppet Show and giving them an adventure too big for prime time. In The Muppet Movie, Kermit the Frog decides to pursue his Hollywood Dreams, traveling across the country where he meets characters like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo, on his way to showbiz. Don’t miss “The Rainbow Connection” and catch (or revisit) this 1979 classic.

Presented on 35mm!

After the screening, join us in the Jane Peck Gallery to make your very own puppet and learn how to bring it to life! You are welcome to bring your own sock and we are happy to provide you with one, if not. Participants will work with a teaching artist from Arc Stages who will help them make their own sock puppet character and then have fun becoming a puppeteer.

Family Friendly

“With his Muppets, Henson found a balance between fuzzy post-hippie positivism and self-deprecating wit, and he added in the same quality that made many of the era's cultural phenomena so charming: simple problem-solving.”
Noel Murray, The Dissolve
“Jolson sang, Barrymore spoke, Garbo laughed, and now Kermit the Frog rides a bicycle... If you can figure out how they were able to show Kermit pedaling across the screen, then you are less a romantic than I am: I prefer to believe he did it himself.”
Roger Ebert, The Chicago Sun-Times
