Station to Station is an exploration of modern creativity that began with a highly unusual 2013 trip across North America. Over the course of the 23-day journey on a train designed as a kinetic light sculpture, a constantly changing group of contributors—from cultural icons and to a hitchhiker found on a desert road—took part in a series of 10 happenings, each unique in its location and mix of participants. Made up of 62 one-minute films, this creative collage features appearances and performances by musicians from all points on the dial, including: Beck, Jackson Browne, Patti Smith, Giorgio Moroder, Mavis Staples, Cat Power, Dan Deacon, Cornbread Harris, Thurston Moore, No Age, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Eleanor Friedberger, Suicide, The Congos, and so many others. Seen together, it explores a new frontier of creative expression that transcends the individual voices it contains.
