Originally scheduled for Sept 7
Winner of the Audience Award and the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize in Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. Sonita, a teenage Afghan refugee living in Tehran, spends her days scrapbooking and dreaming about becoming a famous rapper with a socially conscious message. Her dream, while far-fetched (women aren’t allowed to sing in Iran), is very real to her, and she will do anything to keep it alive—even if it means going against the wishes of her family.
Please join us for a reception following the screening.
