Sing Sing

Divine G (Colman Domingo), imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group with other incarcerated men. When a wary outsider joins the group, the men decide to stage their first original comedy, in this stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.

After the following screenings, we will include a pre-recorded Q&A with actor Clarence Maclin and fellow Rehabilitation through the Arts (RTA) alumni, Dario Peña and Peter Gomez. This Q&A took place at the JBFC last month following a preview screening of Sing Sing and was moderated by RTA Director of Programs Charles Moore:

Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 1:15
Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1:30
Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 7:15
Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 4:00

Tickets for these three screenings are $15 (members), $20 (nonmembers).

All regular screenings (without a plus sign next to the showtime) are priced at $11 (members) and $16 (nonmembers).

13 actors in Sing Sing—a majority of the cast—are former convicts who previously participated in RTA’s rehabilitative theater program. Learn more about the film’s casting process and production in this powerful write-up from the New York Times.
