Prosecuting Evil: The Extraordinary World of Ben Ferencz

April 10, 7:30: Q&A with Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Zeid al-Hussein, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Felice Gaer, director of AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights and RECEPTION

“What we have with Barry Avrich’s inspiring and eloquent documentary is the American Dream meeting mankind’s nightmare.” (Globe and Mail)

Few people today have heard of Ben Ferencz, but Barry Avrich’s enthralling portrait of the 98-year-old lawyer, the last surviving Nuremberg prosecutor and lifelong advocate of “law, not war,” will change that forever. When only 27 years old, Ferencz became the lead prosecutor at Nuremberg, where all 22 Nazi officials tried for the murder of over a million people were convicted. As racism, anti-Semitism, and neo-Nazism are on the rise, and long-standing international alliances predicated on common values and notions of justice are endangered, this straightforward, incisive documentary could not be more relevant.
