Kate (Catherine Keener) and her husband, Alex (Oliver Platt) have a lucrative business buying furniture from the apartments of the recently deceased—items considered junk by their unsuspecting relatives—to sell for a large profit at their vintage furniture store. At home, with the hopes of expanding their apartment, they’ve bought the place next door. They’ve agreed to allow current occupant, 90-year-old Andra, to live there rent-free for the rest of her days (but they’re counting on that not being very long).
