Timid Colin (Henry Melling) is swept off his feet when Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), an enigmatic, impossibly handsome biker, takes him on as his submissive. Told by Ray that he has “an aptitude for devotion,” Colin avidly adapts to being at Ray’s beck and call, but also begins to harbor deeper feelings that could scare his adonis away. Subversive, sexy, and surprisingly tender, this unconventional romance between an inquisitive young gay man and his leatherman lover features two delightfully game performances by Melling and Skarsgård, and assured directing from debut filmmaker Harry Lighton, whose adaptation of the novel “Box Hill” by Adam Mars-Jones took home the award for best screenplay at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard competition.

"Walking a line as delicate as shattered silk, Pillion deftly navigates between salacious and sweet, raunchy and romantic."
"Lighton has made a truly provocative anti-romance that’s funny, honest, strangely touching. It’s an exceptional balance act that makes Pillion the unlikeliest crowd-pleaser."
