For 15 months director Mo-young Jin captured the lives of Byong-man Jo and Gye-yeul Kang, an elderly Korean couple who have been inseparable for the past 76 years. Jin acts as a fly on the wall, capturing the pair having picnics and dance parties, as well as sharing simple acts of affection—from a playful leaf fight to a gentle caress of the cheek. Their zest for life and for one another continues even into their twilight years. The film was a blockbuster in Korea where it became the country’s biggest independent film of all time. My Love, Don’t Cross That River presents an unforgettable story of true love standing the test of time.
