When the Taliban puts a bounty on Afghan director Hassan Fazili’s head, he is forced to flee the country with his wife and two young daughters. Capturing their uncertain journey, Fazili shows firsthand the dangers facing refugees seeking asylum and the love of a family on the run. We are unusually proud and excited to show this award-winning, influential documentary, which is earning quite a buzz on the festival circuit. It was written, produced, and edited by Emelie Mahdavian, a 2018 artist-in-residence at the JBFC under our Creative Culture program, which champions diverse voices and fosters a thriving artistic community through offering donor-funded fellowships and residencies.
