Written and directed by Jonah Hill (Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot), Mid90s follows Stevie (Sunny Suljic in a breakout performance), a thirteen-year-old in 90s-era LA who spends his summer vacation enduring beatings from his older brother (Lucas Hedges, Manchester by the Sea, Lady Bird) and helping out his overworked single mother (Katherine Waterson, Logan Lucky). When Stevie stumbles across a group of kids at a local skate shop, he is propelled into a new world of delinquency, teenage apathy, drugs, sex, and ultimately, freedom. Set to a perfectly curated soundtrack of 90s hip-hop and rock, Hill’s directorial debut “feels rough-hewn, hands-on and totally irresistible” (Rolling Stone).
