Inspired by the John Ford classic, The Searchers, Les Cowboys, the directorial debut from acclaimed screenwriter Thomas Bidegain (Rust and Bone, A Prophet), starts in a vast prairie during a “country & western” gathering somewhere in the east of France. Alain (Francois Damiens, JCVD) is a central figure in this small, but devoted community. At the celebration, he dances with his daughter Kelly, 16, as his wife and their young son, Kid, watch from the sidelines. Suddenly, Kelly disappears without a trace, and the family quickly unravels. Heartbroken, but determined, Alain embarks on a relentless and obsessive search for his daughter, even though it will cost him everything and take him to some far-off places; dark, unsettling places, where his sole support is Kid (Finnegan Oldfield, Neither Heaven Nor Earth), who sacrifices his youth to accompany his father on this seemingly endless quest.
