Italianamerican

Screening followed by a tasting reception in the Jane Peck Gallery

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese interviews his mother, Catherine, and father, Charles, in this short documentary filmed in the couple’s Elizabeth Street apartment in New York’s Little Italy. The Scorseses engage in a wonderfully freewheeling conversation which touches on everything from their origins and ancestry in Italy, their journey to immigrate to America, and, perhaps most memorable of all, the recipe for Catherine’s famous meatballs.

Afterwards, join us upstairs in the Jane Peck Gallery to enjoy a delectable tasting menu, presented in partnership with Pubstreet.

"Catherine and Charles (Scorsese) are truly a whole world, and certainly more compelling than many paid performers."
Jeff Reichert, Reverse Shot
"Italianamerican finds the director doing perhaps the bravest thing he has ever done: sitting down with his parents on the plastic slipcovers of their living-room sofa, and simply letting them talk."
Janet Maslin, The New York Times
