Hamnet

Opens November 26—Q&A with costume designer Malgosia Turzanska on 12/4

From Academy Award-winning writer/director Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, The Rider), Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet. Featuring Paul Mescal (Aftersun, All of Us Strangers) as William Shakespeare and Jessie Buckley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things) as his wife Agnes. Inspired by the bestselling novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell.

"Hamnet is so emotionally raw as to be almost excruciating at times, featuring a heroic performance from Jessie Buckley as Shakespeare’s wife and the mother of his children — although as presented, she could be the mother of us all."
Peter Debruge, Variety
"In Hamnet... the two always go hand in hand: joy and fear, love and loss. One feeds into the other in a cycle as old as life itself, and unavoidable. But just as her William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) turns the pain of being caught between the two into the masterpiece that is Hamlet, Zhao harnesses those elements into something gorgeous and cathartic."
Angie Han, The Hollywood Reporter

SPECIAL EVENTS

Q&A with costume designer Malgosia Turzanska

Thursday, Dec. 4 2025, 7:00

  • Malgosia Turzaska was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. She has a BFA in Costume Design from DAMU in Prague and an MFA in Costume Design from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her design credits include Season 1 of Stranger Things, which earned her a CDG nomination for Excellence in Period TV, and The Green Knight (CDG nomination for Sci-Fi/Fantasy). She also designed the horror films X and Pearl starring Mia Goth, which inspired many a Halloween costume over the past years. Her most recent work includes two book adaptations: Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Malgosia lives in a tiny hamlet in upstate New York with cinematographer husband Joe Anderson and when not designing costumes, she makes textile sculptures and useless, impractical furniture.
