Q&A with costume designer Malgosia Turzanska

Malgosia Turzanska was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. She has a BFA in Costume Design from DAMU in Prague and an MFA in Costume Design from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her design credits include Season 1 of Stranger Things, which earned her a CDG nomination for Excellence in Period TV, and The Green Knight (CDG nomination for Sci-Fi/Fantasy). She also designed the horror films X and Pearl starring Mia Goth, which inspired many a Halloween costume over the past years. Her most recent work includes two book adaptations: Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Malgosia lives in a tiny hamlet in upstate New York with cinematographer husband Joe Anderson and when not designing costumes, she makes textile sculptures and useless, impractical furniture.

Nicolas Gonda is a creative force whose work spans film, television, and immersive experiences, driven by a lifelong commitment to visionary storytelling on a global scale. He is the Co-Founder of Book of Shadows, the film and television company he leads with Academy Award–winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, dedicated to developing and producing distinctive, world-class stories for audiences around the world. Nic also serves as President of Fairview Portals, the creative studio founded by Jon Favreau that pioneers next-generation storytelling and immersive experiences. He began his career at Focus Features, working on the marketing and distribution of acclaimed films such as Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Pianist, Brokeback Mountain, and 21 Grams. Nic went on to found Tugg, the first-ever theatrical crowdsourcing platform, which transformed community-driven film distribution and expanded access to independent cinema worldwide. He later served as Chief Content Officer at Meow Wolf, helping scale its groundbreaking immersive entertainment model. As a film producer, he has overseen more than 20 films, including Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life, nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
