Monica Castillo, JBFC Senior Programmer writes: “Ghostlight is the story of a construction worker who’s invited to join a community theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet, giving him the opportunity to be open about his past. I adored this movie within just a few moments of watching it. The real family playing the central characters of the story – Keith Kupferer plays Dan, the construction worker-turned-actor, his wife Sharon is played by Tara Mallen and their daughter Daisy is played by Katherine Mallen Kupferer – add so much depth and intensity to their impressive performances, especially Kupferer’s Robert De Niro-esque tough guy with little to say but a lot of emotions written across his face. But this is very much an ensemble piece, and the theatrical community led by a headstrong and unapologetic Dolly De Leon is just as pivotal to Dan’s journey. It’s a moving story about the healing power of art, how we all have a creative spirit, and how much we need art and each other. Ghostlight is a beautiful love letter to the stage made possible by the screen.”

"O’Sullivan and Thompson gently fold their story together, finding humor and heart at every turn . . . leading to the kind of ending that somehow inspired the film’s very first audience at Sundance to laugh and cry."
"Ghostlight bridges the gap between art and reality, blending a poignant narrative that aims to better understand a loved one and the expression of grief."
