We’re so excited to bring Everybody Wants Some!!, the latest film from endlessly talented and always fearless director Richard Linklater (Boyhood, Dazed and Confused, the Before trilogy), to the Jacob Burns audience. The film follows Jake (Blake Jenner, Fox’s Glee), a freshman baseball pitcher, as he settles into his new college house that’s already filled with his rowdy teammates. With three days to kill before school starts, the guys drink beer, listen to records, chase girls, play baseball, and, most importantly, hang out—this is a Richard Linklater movie, after all. Originally pitched as a “spiritual sequel” to Linklater’s classic, Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some!! perfectly captures that heavenly period of time in college between moving back to school and the start of classes—that time when young students are simultaneously free from their parents and their professors, and are allowed to just be. At first appearing to be a standard “beer & girls” college comedy, Everybody Wants Some!! is a deceptively brilliant film that explores ideas around identity, belonging, friendship, and adulthood. It’s a hysterically funny nostalgia trip to a time and place we all miss, but one we’ll always look back on fondly.
