Enough Said

Q&A with author, critic, and historian Jason Bailey

A divorced and single parent, Eva (Julia Louis Dreyfus) spends her days enjoying work as a masseuse but dreading her daughter’s impending departure for college. She meets Albert (James Gandolfini)—a sweet, funny and like-minded man also facing an empty nest. As their romance quickly blossoms, Eva befriends Marianne (Catherine Keener), her new massage client. Marianne is a beautiful poet who seems “almost perfect” except for one prominent quality: she rags on her ex-husband way too much. Suddenly, Eva finds herself doubting her own relationship with Albert as she learns the truth about Marianne’s Ex. Directed by Nicole Holofcener (You Hurt My Feelings, Friends with Money), Enough Said is a sharp, insightful comedy that humorously explores the mess that often comes with getting involved again.

Following the screening, join film critic and historian Jason Bailey for a Q&A about his new book Gandolfini: Jim, Tony, and the Life of a Legend. Based on extensive research and original interviews, this intimate biography of actor James Gandolfini reveals the complexities of Gandolfini’s character, his rise to fame, and his lasting impact on television and film.

Copies of the book will be available for sale after the screening courtesy of The Village Bookstore.

"What matters is Gandolfini, whose languid, burry diction and Buddha-like poise set the simplest lines and deeds spinning with life-worn worlds of feeling."
Richard Brody, The New Yorker
"As always in Holofcener's films, people in Enough Said say terrible things to each other. You hear them and think, No one would ever say that in real life-until you recognize that yes, of course they would."
Stephanie Zacharek, Village Voice
