Clue

Though faithfully inspired by the iconic board game, this beloved 80s comedy turned out to be something much more: a clever pastiche of the murder mystery genre, a perfectly calibrated parlor-set farce, and an inspired gathering of some of the era’s greatest comedic performers.

On a rainy night in a New England mansion, an ensemble of suspicious and eccentric dinner party guests discover that their host, the mysterious “Mr. Boddy”, has been murdered. Who among them might be guilty? Tim Curry’s proper butler, Wadsworth, Christopher Lloyd’s bespectacled Professor Plum, Madeline Kahn’s bellicose Mrs. White, Michael McKean’s Mr. Green, Martin Mull’s Colonel Mustard, Lesley Ann Warren’s bodacious Miss Scarlet? They all take turns bumbling through the mystery and chewing up the scenery, culminating in an ending originally conceived to change from screening to screening.

"Clue had every right to simply exist as a branded IP cash-in. Instead, writer/director Jonathan Lynn gave us a comedy classic, overflowing with tongue-in-cheek satire, whip-smart rapid-fire dialogue, and one of the finest comedic casts ever assembled."
