While Greenwich Village is now filled with luxury apartments and the people who can afford to live in them, one shop remains true to its bohemian roots: At Carmine Street Guitars, Rick Kelly builds handcrafted instruments out of reclaimed wood from old bars, churches, and other local buildings. Nothing looks or sounds quite like a Rick Kelly guitar, which is why they’ve been embraced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, and Patti Smith. This film, a “little gem for both guitar heads and lovers of old New York” (Hollywood Reporter), captures five days in the life of the iconic shop, while examining an all-too-quickly vanishing way of life.
