Michal Vinik’s feature debut stunningly captures the uncomfortable final year of high school for 17-year-old Naama (played marvelously by newcomer Sivan Noam Shimon). Naama is thoroughly bored with her overbearing family and uneventful school days in suburban Tel Aviv. She spends most of her free time partying and flirting. And then she meets bleached-blonde bad girl Dana, and falls hard. Meanwhile, her studious, hard-working older sister goes AWOL from her military service, leaving their parents perplexed and unnerved. Blush is a captivating fictional portrait of modern Israel through the eyes of its youth who are pushing boundaries.
