Five old VW camper vans. Four bands. Three thousand miles. Two weeks. One gloriously backwards tour. The adventure starts after Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival, when the musicians (Ben Howard, The Staves, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bear’s Den) pile into their rides and head northeast. They play everywhere from bars to barns, rooms to rooftops, packing tiny venues and wowing crowds with their unique sounds and also contend with heavy rainstorms, breakdowns, and cramped conditions. Featuring Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett and narrated by Gill Landry, this tuneful documentary is about a modern-day tour, done the old-fashioned way.
