In oceanfront Recife, Brazil, Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spiderwoman) plays Clara, a vibrant, former music critic, who refuses to leave her apartment after a corrupt group of real estate developers begin harassing her into selling so they can raze the building and put up a luxury condo tower. From director Kleber Mendonça Filho (Neighboring Sounds), Aquarius is a portrait of modern Brazilian life and a story that touches on the preservation of history, community and lifestyle, politics, class, racial divides, sexuality, culture, the communication between generations, and more—all set to a soundtrack that includes artists that range from Queen to Brazilian vocalist Roberto Carlos.
