When Giacomo Puccini debuted his opera about a young Japanese geisha and a visiting American naval officer at La Scala in 1904, it was a disaster—and Puccini never worked there again. The opera, of course, went on to become a timeless classic, and more than a century later, it makes its triumphant return to the grand theater in Milan. This audacious production features Maria José Siri, a young soprano who has performed on the greatest international stages. With the Teatro alla Scala chorus and orchestra.
