Stop Asian Hate
All of us at the Jacob Burns Film Center are saddened and sickened by the murders of six women of Asian descent among those recently killed in Georgia. Equally devastating is the knowledge that xenophobia and racist hate crimes against Asian Americans are at an all-time high. According to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism’s survey of police departments in 16 major U.S. cities, in 2020 alone, anti-Asian hate crimes have increased by 149%.
We unequivocally condemn the dangerous rhetoric and all violence wielded against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. We have a responsibility to speak up and call out hate, racism, misogyny, and white supremacy in our communities, and the nation at large.
