Triangle of Sadness

In director Ruben Östlund’s wickedly funny follow-up to his Palme d’Or winning art-world satire The Square, social hierarchy is turned upside down yet again, revealing the tawdry relationship between power and beauty. Celebrity model couple Carl (Harris Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean) are invited on a luxury cruise for the uber-rich, helmed by an unhinged boat captain (Woody Harrelson). What first appeared instagrammable ends catastrophically, leaving the survivors stranded on a desert island and fighting for survival.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival

Please Note: This film includes a scene with graphic depictions of seasickness for at least a solid 10 minutes during the Captain’s dinner that may induce queasiness in patrons with sensitive stomachs.

"The thing about Östlund is that he makes you laugh, but he also makes you think."
Peter Debruge, Variety
"The director pours on the acid — and the diarrhea, and the vomit — in some of the most remarkably modulated and attenuated gross-out comedy scenes in recent memory.”
Justin Chang, Los Angeles Times
