Tramontane

Rabih is a blind musician from a small Lebanese village whose band is about to embark on an international trip. He needs a passport. But going to the passport office to perform the mundane task of submitting paperwork proves to be the beginning of a trip of a whole other kind. First, the officials tell him his ID is fake, and then they send him off to find his birth certificate. This document proves elusive, so Rabih gets a blood test—and it’s soon revealed that he has lived his whole life in a web of misinformation, as each question he asks reveals a new layer of family deceit and willful amnesia. A moving, captivating drama with a strong performance at its core.

This film is part of the Contemporary Arab Cinema 2017 series.
