While on vacation in Los Angeles, Walter (Peter Linz), the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel, The End of the Tour) and Mary (Amy Adams, Enchanted) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper, Adaptation) to demolish the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage “The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever” and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary, and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have gone their separate ways as the last two decades saw their Hollywood careers fade. At the time of the film’s release, the Muppets had not seen the big screen since 1999’s Muppets from Space. The massive success of the film proved the Muppets’ timeless popularity and introduced a new generation of young fans to the beloved comedy group.
