The brilliant Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Lelio (Gloria, A Fantastic Woman) is back with his English-language debut: a deep dive into forbidden love in an Orthodox Jewish community in London. Rachel Weisz stars as Ronit, a free spirit who moved away years ago. She returns home to attend a funeral and faces closed doors and damning judgment. Eventually, she rekindles a childhood friendship with Esti (Rachel McAdams), who was her ally in youthful rebellion back in the day. Indiewire calls Disobedience “a beautiful, fraught, and emotionally nuanced drama.”
