An Evening with Christian Borle & Mark Kaufman

Life on the Stage: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Join us for an evening of “pure imagination” with Broadway star Christian Borle as we celebrate the transformation of Roald Dahl’s most treasured tale, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, from a classic children’s novel to two whimsical films, and a highly successful musical—first on London’s West End and now on BroadwayGet into the sweet and scrumptious spirit with a screening of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), featuring Gene Wilder in one of his most memorable performances as the Candy Man himself. After the screening, two-time Tony-winning actor Christian Borle, who originated the role of Willy Wonka in Broadway’s current production, will join Mark Kaufman, executive vice president of Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and producer of London’s West End musical adaptation, in a conversation moderated by four-time Tony-winning Broadway Producer Dori Berinstein about the joys and challenges of adapting such a beloved story from book to screen to stage.

Life on the Stage series is presented in partnership with the Actors Fund, a national human services organization that helps everyone—performers and those behind the scenes—who works in performing arts and entertainment. Programs include social services and emergency financial assistance, health care and insurance counseling, housing, and employment and training services www.actorsfund.org.
