Following its spring release, Paul Schrader’s First Reformed has been generating tremendous year-end attention as one of the most important films of the year, having received four Gotham Award nominations (including wins for Best Screenplay and Best Actor), four Independent Spirit Award nominations, and New York Film Critics Circle Awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor. It’s one of the year’s boldest and most daring films, and we’re thrilled to have iconic writer-director Paul Schrader back for a conversation reflecting on the film with JBFC Programming Director Brian Ackerman.
