Elements of Film: Editing

NEW! This fall, we’re introducing a selection of three-part seminars that explore various elements of the art of film and storytelling. Take one, two, or all three! These mini-courses are intended for filmgoers—though makers will enjoy them as well.

After all the scenes have been shot (often out of sequence), the editor puts them together into a story. Even with meticulous direction and cinematography, this is when a film’s identity and story truly come to life. Editor, writer, director, cinematographer, and JBFC faculty member John Koch will show students how thousands of small decisions shape raw footage into a seamless narrative and reveal the strategies and technology that make it happen.

This program will take place at the JBFC Theater

3 Wednesdays, Nov. 7–28 (no class Nov. 21)
12:30–2:30 pm
Class size: 41

$90/$81 (JBFC members, Film Family level and above)
Nonmembers will be charged a $20 registration fee.
