Thoroughbreds

Estranged childhood friends Lily (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch, Split) and Amanda (Olivia Cooke, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), are reunited through standardized-test tutoring. Lily has turned into a polished, upper-class teenager, with a fancy boarding school on her transcript and a coveted internship on her resume; Amanda has developed a sharp wit and her own particular attitude—all in the process of becoming a social outcast. When Lily’s stepfather threatens to send her to reform school because of bad behavior, she recruits Amanda in a dangerous plot that serves both their interests. As the pair’s friendship grows, they begin to bring out one another’s most destructive tendencies. Featuring electrifying performances–including a standout from the late Anton Yelchin in his final role–Thoroughbreds is a stylish neo-noir and an exciting debut from filmmaker Cory Finley.
