The Wide Blue Road

Free Member Screening

A beautifully photographed 1957 character study about conflicts in a fishing village as well as a scenario that pits capitalist ingenuity against Communist collectivism. Jonathan hosted a full retrospective of the films of Gillo Pontecorvo (The Battle of Algiers) at the Walter Reade Theater in New York 18 years ago. Thanks to his efforts, this drama starring Yves Montand and Alida Valli had its US premiere in that series.
