The “Trip” films constitute the only movie franchise that matters. (RogerEbert.com)
“[The Trip] is at once a desperate echo of long-gone glories and a glory itself.” (Village Voice)
Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon reunite once again to play fictionalized versions of themselves in another deliciously deadpan culinary road trip. This time the duo embark on a restaurant tour around Spain to sample the best of the country’s gastronomic offerings in between rounds of their hilariously off-the-cuff banter. Steve and Rob continue their patented celebrity impressions complicated by more serious reflections on fame (or lack thereof), regret, and the existential anxieties that come with middle age. As always, director Michael Winterbottom delivers breathtaking locales, mouthwatering cuisine, and devilish humor.
