This modest, nostalgic 2003 film—”a parable of tolerance and understanding” (New York Times)—features Omar Sharif (Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago) as the grizzled Muslim owner of a small shop in Paris who forms a unexpected bond with a Jewish teen from the neighborhood.
