Late Night

“A light and spiky office comedy.” (Variety)

A legendary, if prickly, late-night television talk show host (Emma Thompson, Sense and Sensibility) finds that she’s being forced to step down, goes into crisis mode, and hires her first and only female staff writer (Mindy Kaling, Fox/Hulu’s The Mindy Project) to help out. The smart script—written by Kaling and inspired by her experience as the only woman in The Office writers’ room—wrestles with age and obsolescence, sexism, the perils of social media, and the difficulty of being a female comedian all while providing Thompson a platform for her hilarious performance.
