The new film from Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), Gifted follows the touching story of Frank Adler (Chris Evans, Snowpiercer and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America), a single man raising a child prodigy—his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace, ABC’s Designated Survivor)—in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan, Birdman, Le Week-End) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary and the quiet but happy life they’ve built together. Featuring strong supporting turns from Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) and Jenny Slate (Obvious Child, My Blind Brother).
