A Special Evening with Maggie Gyllenhaal

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Golden Globe-winning, Academy Award-nominated actress Maggie Gyllenhaal joined us for a special screening of The Kindergarten Teacher, the chilling story of Lisa, a kindergarten teacher trapped in the banality of Staten Island life, yearning to live a life of art and intellectualism. After overhearing a student recite an original poem in her classroom, Lisa believes him to be a prodigy and embarks down an increasingly desperate and disturbing path to nurture his talent.

Following the screening, JBFC Board President Janet Maslin sat down with Maggie for a Q&A, exploring her process, her thoughts on Lisa’s psyche, and so much more.

At the end of this most remarkable program, Silver Screen Circle members were invited to a private dinner in the Jane Peck Gallery. Check out photos from the night below!
