THE JOURNAL NEWS FILM CLUB AT THE JBFC

The Journal News Film Club offers subscribers pre-release screenings of some of the hottest new independent films from around the world. One of the most popular programs at the Film Center, this film club is sponsored by The Journal News. Films are selected from various film festivals and have included Tsotsi, Pan’s Labyrinth, After the Wedding, Talk to Me and Moliere.

This is always a special evening with lively discussions among club subscribers and the host, and it provides a wonderful opportunity to share film as part of a group of film lovers! Subscribers get to see each film as part of a select audience across the country viewing it pre-release. Occasionally, special guests (producers, directors or actors) join the after-film discussion. Our host is Jeff Reichert, co-founder and editor of the popular and respected online film journal Reverse Shot. Jeff also heads the publicity/marketing department for Magnolia Pictures. We look forward to gaining a new perspective from Jeff and his unique film industry background as we encounter interesting previews this season.

The film club meets monthly and is available by subscription to Jacob Burns Film Center members only, as either a Six-Month series ($100 per person) or a Three-Month series ($50 per person), two times per year, in two seasons: Winter-Spring (January-June) and Summer-Fall (July-December). Due to the popularity of this program, it is only available to members of the Film Center beginning at the Film Buff level.

Six-month subscriptions are offered as a PRIORITY PURCHASE benefit to FILM SPONSOR, FILM ENTHUSIAST and SILVER SCREEN CIRCLE members of the film center. Any six-month subscriptions remaining after the Priority Purchase period are offered to FILM BUFFS.

Three-month subscriptions are offered as a PRIORITY PURCHASE benefit to FILM BUFF members.

The Winter-Spring 2008 season (January - June) is SOLD OUT although standby tickets may be available at the box office only, the night of each film.
